Cherry Tree Praise

Cherry Tree Praise

One Sunday as I was traveling to church, I glanced out the car window as I passed by a cherry orchard and I thought to myself, those trees looked like they were giving God praise. The branches were bare, and the silhouette of the group was captivating. Their limbs were curved up to heaven and all I could think is they are praising their Creator.

I began to write down my thoughts regarding what I glimpsed. These are my thoughts. Sometimes, because you are bare does not mean you will not produce fruit later. The cherry tree in winter looks stark and bare however, its branches are pointed up in the position of praise.

Frequently, people cannot wait to produce because they want recognition immediately. They abort waiting and forfeit the benefits of allowing growth necessary to replenish them in their winter season as a result they can be built up in the faith. We must consider the cherry tree in winter although it looks barren, in spring it starts to bud, then beautiful blossoms are formed which are white and pink with a splash of crimson and in summer, blossoms are replaced by bountiful fruit.

During our winter season we may look unfruitful. However, if we remain attached to the true vine and are strengthen and nourished by the Husbandman come spring nutrients or God’s Word absorbed and stored during our winter season will produce and we will begin to bud or grow in due season. When we become aware of the knowledge of the truth and become strong in the Lord we flourish and blossom. Our lives or winter period are infused by the radiance of color. Finally, in the summer as fruit becomes evident it will still require more time for the cherry or fruit to ripen and sweeten.

Subsequently, we may enter church in the winter of our life, and some may see us and say they are dead, not fruitful, and not worthy. Matthew 11:28 states “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” When we enter into the joy of the Lord and submit ourselves to God’s will, it is then when a change will take place. Just as the cherry tree seems dormant in its winter season in time fruit is produced. The born-again person is renewed after their encounter with Christ and a transformed Saint produces.

Even in winter the cherry tree gives God praise, during our barren season we also should be in a position of praise!
