Prepare For the Next Fire!

Prepare For the Next Fire!

Sometimes you wonder why things are not starting or igniting, you didn’t get the promotion or advancement, you are not receiving attention from your husband or wife, the church doesn’t seem to be moving in the direction you may think it should be, life seems drab, and you feel defeated. The solution is you may be on the wrong side of the fire!

I had the occasion of watching my husband burning tree branches and debris in our backyard. I watched him as he tried to ignite the fire. There was some effort needed because he was gathering the debris after a storm. Due to the storm, the limbs and branches were wet with snow and ice. My husband persisted in making the fire. He piled up the debris laced it with paper and applied fire to the twigs and branches however, there was a lot of smoke but no fire. Eventually, he had to add an additive (gas) to ignite the fire. There remained a problem with the fire staying lit.

Accessing the situation, my husband realized there was no wind on the side where he wanted the fire to start. By him changing his position to where the wind was to his advantage this allowed the fire to stay ignited. Sometimes when we try to start a fire, you may not be where God wants you, however, when we put ourselves in God’s plan the fire will be ignited. The difference was the wind.

No matter our intent or desire things are not always going to go as planned, although, we must not stop trying. Subsequently, my husband was victorious in his plight when he realized it is not always what you do such as adding paper and combustible however, its changing your approach. Fire ignites when wind is allowed to blow on the embers. God's purpose for our life may have us changing our position to get the fire started. Many times, we hold the same attitude, mindset, or disposition when God is trying to get us to change our position. We battle through the smoke God is saying move. We stir in the fire, God is saying move. We can’t achieve, grow or acquire what our Lord will have for us with smoke blocking our view and the fire is almost out.

Change your position and your advantage will change. Realize the plans that God have for you. “For I know the plans I have for you,' declares the Lord, 'plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future” Jeremiah 29:1. Prepare for the next fire!
